BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Hard release definition

Definition: This is when a species that has been looked after carefully, fed and bred, are after a time, released back into the wild without being supported or supervised or fed. They are just released and left to fend for themselves. For example, toads, frogs, reptiles and insects can be released without support. Here we have a pond where toads and frogs can breed and then be hard released to enter the wild and re-habituate.
