Definition: A nanometre is a unit of measurement used with wavelengths, showing the length of them. So, how long is a nanometre? If you take 1 metre and cut it into 1 billion pieces, just one of those pieces would measure 1 nanometre. So, a nanometre is 1 billionth of a metre (1/1,000,000,000,000).
