BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Plum pudding model definition

Definition: Over history as science has progressed and we have discovered more, so too have the models we've used to try and explain things. The person who came up with the 'Plum Pudding' model of the atom was JJ Thomson, who suggested the atom was like a Christmas pudding which had a positive charge, but that it also had negative charges (electrons) attached to, it rather like the raisins in a Christmas pudding.
