Definition: Pollen analysis - scientists can analyse pollen grains found in environmental samples, by looking under a microscope. They have distinct shapes. Pollen grains are strong and not easily destroyed. They have been found in fossils and water. These pollen grains can let us know what kind of plants grew historically. This can also deduce the climate when historic sediments are deposited.
