BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Tied ridging definition

Definition: Tied ridging is a farming technique that prevents soil erosion and water evaporation or runoff. Ridges are formed in rows, crops are planted along the ridge tops, and in between are small rectangular indentations in the furrows. Water collects in the indentations when it rains; this keeps the soil wet and stops the soil from blowing or washing away.
