Hello! Can you guess where I am? I'm in Falmouth, Cornwall, which is a well-known place for Basking Sharks. Basking Sharks are really big animals and their defining feature is their big mouth. They eat by hoovering up Plankton as they glide near the surface of the water. Basking Sharks have 'Gill Rakes' which act as filters that separate out the Plankton from the water. Here in the UK, Basking Sharks have the Conservation Status 'Endangered' which means they are under threat. In Cornwall they're around from April to October, but most likely to be seen from May to July. Basking Sharks can be found living in small groups of sharks, or on their own.
