BSL Marine Species Glossary - Blue Shark - definition

Translation:

Guess where I am? I'm in Falmouth, Cornwall which is well known for one animal - the Blue Shark. Blue Sharks can grow up to 2-4m in length. Identifiable because they have big eyes which they need to help them see in the deep dark water as they travel far and wide looking for food. Blue Sharks have a long and pointed nose and their bright blue skin helps camouflage them in water. They also have long fins on either side of their bodies, which help them swim better - these fins look like wings. Blue Sharks have the Conservation Status 'Critically Endangered' here in the UK because of overfishing both here, in Europe and all over the world, so we need to protect them.
