BSL Marine Species Glossary - Cephalopods - definition

Translation:

Cephalopods are a class of different animals found in the sea - Octopus, Nautilus, Squid, Cuttlefish, all of which are classed as Cephalopods. They all have a soft head with arms/tentacles, and prominent eyes.

The Octopus has eight arms only. The Cuttlefish and Squid have eight arms plus two tentacles, which they use for catching prey. When threatened, they suck in water and then expel it forcefully, using jet propulsion to escape danger. The Nautilus is quite different from the others – it has a hard outer shell and can have up to 90 tentacles.

There are a number of different videos of these animals in the marine species glossary.
