Hi I'm here in Cornwall to talk about Sunfish. Sunfish are strange looking fish! They have a circular shaped body with a stiff, bony fringe. Sunfish measure around 3 metres and are heavy, weighing about 1,400kg. They have two, small pectoral fins and a long, dorsal fin which some people say makes them look a bit like a shark. Sunfish eat jellyfish and dive into deep water to feed. When they return to the surface they turn their bodies horizontally, which allows them to heat up quickly in the sun after having spent time in cold, deeper water. In terms of conservation, Sunfish are not considered 'Endangered' but still need protection.
