BSL Marine Species Glossary - Velvet Swimming Crab - definition


Translation:

Velvet Swimming Crab. Also known as the 'Devil Crab' because of their red eyes! They move from side to side and are medium sized. Their bodies are brown and covered in short hairs which look like velvet; they have blue lines on their claws and legs. Velvet Swimming Crabs live in rock pools, but can also be found on the seabed at depths of up to 100 metres. They're aggressive creatures with strong claws!
