Example

A factor is any whole number which divides exactly into another whole number. Factors come in pairs. What are the factors of 12?

12 ÷ 1 = 12; 1 is a factor of 12
12 ÷ 12 = 1; 12 is a factor of 12
1 and 12 are factors of 12
12 ÷ 2 = 6; 2 is a factor of 12
2 and 6 are factors of 12
12 ÷ 3 = 4; 3 is a factor of 12
3 and 4 are factors of 12
