Talking Points in Deaf Education is a new series of sessions bringing together panellists to explore topical and relevant issues in the field, each followed by open discussion and dialogue with attendees.

This first session brings together perspectives on the evolving landscape of deaf education. Teresa Quail will open with an overview of the recent CRIDE data, picking out key data points covering the number of deaf children and young people, staffing levels, bases, and BSL users across the UK.

Tommy Donnelly will then introduce his role and place it within the current legislative context, before outlining the practical steps his organisation is taking to promote British Sign Language (BSL) internally.

The session will close with an open discussion, giving attendees the chance to share their own views and experiences of how deaf education is changing — making it a chance for genuine dialogue as much as a presentation.
