In this condensed session of the Scottish Disability Sport (SDS) workshop Working with Autistic Learners in Sport and Physical Activity, two autistic people will reflect on their experience of PE and sport within the school environment.

Inclusion models will then be presented to support attendees to identify good PE teaching and communication practice, and potential adaptations to encourage successful inclusion of autistic learners in PE, physical activity and sport. There will be a focus on strategies and tools to support autism and combined sensory impairments.

SDS is the national governing and coordinating body for disability sport in Scotland. It leads, develops, and promotes sport and physical activity for people of all ages and abilities who have a physical, sensory, or learning disability by providing opportunities for participation and competition, supporting a network of Branches and partners (including local authorities and Sports Governing Bodies), delivering Disability Inclusion Training to the Scottish sporting workforce and supporting disabled athletes.
