This practical session will introduce a range of tools that support blind and visually impaired learners in accessing diagrams, graphics and classroom content more independently.
Ellis and Jason will demonstrate three key technologies: Tactonom, which combines tactile graphics with audio guidance; the Dot Pad X, an enhanced multi‑line braille and tactile display capable of presenting braille, diagrams, graphs and maps; and the CoaSt Duo, a portable camera-based solution for accessing information both near and at a distance.
They will also highlight tactile maths equipment that helps learners explore numeracy and geometry through touch. Rather than focusing on specifications, Ellis and Jason will show how each tool works in real learning situations and discuss where each approach may be most useful in education.
