BSL AI Glossary - Prediction definition

Translation: A model makes predictions by estimating outcomes related to ideas or situations using patterns it has learned from the training data. Its weights and parameters are refined during the optimisation process. If the training data includes images of different types of cats and dogs, the model can predict that a previously unseen picture of a cat is a cat.

Predictions can also include future temperatures based on patterns found in the training data. The accuracy of these predictions is less reliable when the model has limited data and improves as the quantity and quality of data increase.
