BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Net Zero Emissions definition

Description: Net zero emissions is linked to greenhouse gases. We need to balance the amount of greenhouse gases we are releasing into the atmosphere with the amount that is removed. This can be achieved in one of two ways: firstly, by reducing the emissions and secondly by removing existing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, using either natural methods or new technologies. We have to bring emissions and removal of emissions into balance and not allow the difference to increase.
