BSL Environmental Science Glossary - Non-Natural Climate Drivers definition

Description: Non-Natural Climate Drivers are the things that human beings do that, over time, have an impact on the climate. Examples are burning fossil fuels, like coal, oil and gas. When we do this, carbon dioxide (CO2) is released into the atmosphere where it adds to the amount of greenhouse gases (because it can't escape). This changes the atmosphere which changes the climate. Another example of human activity is deforestation; trees absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and by cutting them down less is absorbed and more greenhouse gases are released.
