Definition: A rammed earth wall is a wall constructed without cement. Instead, different materials are poured into a cavity between 2 temporary walls and tamped down to make a solid wall in itself. This is a low-embodied building material, using less energy than conventional wall construction. The Great Wall of China is a famous example of this kind of wall construction. Modern buildings now are being constructed in this way as well, rather than using manufactured materials which are non-renewable, soil is used as well as different materials that are around and readily available like straw and plastic, etc, to build these kinds of walls.
