Description: The Understorey is a layer of vegetation that exists below the Forest Floor and the Forest Canopy. This part of the forest is dark and moist. At the very top of the forest plants have access to 100% of available sunlight; in the Understory the figure is only 5%. A variety of plants and animals live in the Understory, for example birds, reptiles and snakes as well as a number of predators, like jaguars, leopards and reptiles like the boa. There are also numerous insects.
