Being able to address a case study and brainstorm responses to challenge our instinctive initial thoughts and clarify.
Reading other ideas and thoughts from other professionals.
Understanding the rules about signing/modifying language in an exam situation.
The break out room which allowed us to consider the Scottish perspective and talk with other colleagues in Scotland so we could ask questions.
I found the comparisons between the English and Scottish regulations fascinating and so diverse. The scenarios were also useful in opening up discussion.
Got clear information about what adjustments SQA will allow. Best advice 'normal working conditions' very straight forward.
The reassurance that SQA are there to support our deaf pupils to do their best and to help remove barriers that could prevent them achieving their full potential. The reassurance that we can contact any of the presenters if we have any questions. The clarifying of what some concessions are and what can and can't be done. The emphasis of 'Normal Way of Working'. The passion of presenters. Their obvious desire to answer questions people have. The clarity of their presentations and responses.
The open discussion based nature alongside the shared content and expertise.
It was great to be able to ask questions.
A lot of information in a short period of time - which for busy teachers is good! It didn't feel rushed even though I understand you have condensed it.
Break out discussion so it could focus on geographical area.
Would be great to explore other specific subject areas - e.g. music perception / mental maths.
Typical example of modifying a questions, and typical example of how to translate questions - rights and wrongs. Also tips - for example, highlighting the word you need to fingerspell, the procedure of reading the paper an hour before.
Maybe some more examples of modification.
Think it was really clear, break out rooms most useful.
I had realised how different Scotland is from the rest of the UK nations before the webinar so having watched the video and made notes lots of my notes were not useful!
It would have been good if someone from SQA had been there.
Would love to have more clarification on access arrangements for Primary aged children re: SATS etc.
Nothing I can think of. (3)
CSW course, Language Modifying, Mini ToD course for CSWs (to include audiology and BPVS tests etc)
I may be interested in the LM certificate.
Addressing language deprivation of deaf learners across different settings.
You provide a wide range of training, it's impressive.
Annual training on Access Arrangements - perhaps in refresher format where people can submit questions in advance. Also, training on what we expect from schools in terms of Ordinarily Available Provision/reasonable adjustments and thresholds for EHCP assessment.
I am interested in the LM training.
