Auditory Verbal UK (AVUK) delivered an introductory day course on Auditory Verbal therapy. This course focused on the use of Auditory Verbal strategies to maximise listening and spoken language with preschool deaf children and their parents.
Course attendees learned how to use a range of AV strategies to support deaf children and their families including:
There was a Q&A session during which therapists from AVUK were available to answer questions from participants about AV therapy. During this time, participants were invited to bring along case examples or video clips of deaf children whose families want to develop listening and spoken language but for whom the journey there may be challenging.
Open to all professionals working with deaf babies and preschool children, eg, Teachers of Deaf children and young people, mainstream teachers, speech and language therapists.

Auditory Verbal UK is a national charity and is part of the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE). AVUK provides training for professionals working with deaf children and their families and provides therapy directly to families across Scotland.
