A one day online training course looking at the principles of coaching, active listening and promoting patient centred practice.
It can feel like a daunting and confusing time when you first find out that your child has a hearing loss. Equally during periods of transition when you have to make difficult decisions about your or your child's ongoing hearing journey, having professionals around you from audiologists, speech & language therapists and teachers of the deaf who are empathic and active listeners is vital for a successful outcome. This course gave an introduction to the non-professonal counselling skills needed to support patients and families in ways that promote collaborative problem solving. Participants gained practical ideas to out into practice that could transform their interactions, navigating difficult conversations and building trust.
