Will you do anything differently as a result of today's training?

Reflective Practice.
Understanding of attachment theory and “flipping your lid” and how to respond.
Reflect on my current practice and look at how I can improve.
Implement emotional coaching.
Be more self-aware of the language and vocabulary I use with children, especially in emotional situations.
Use the resilience map for child's planning. More conscious of different form of attachment theory and able to apply this to different pupils.
Seek to buy books mentioned today to further develop my knowledge.
Really listening and encouraging others to do the same. Share our calm.
More reading. Use knowledge to inform practice.
Listen to, think about behaviours and reasons why.
Importance of sharing with wider staff in school. Be more aware of how I am feeling and how this impacts on relationships with youngsters.
Think more about how I respond to children and think about what can be causes of mental health to recognise.
More thought into daily practice, emotion coaching.
Yes - lots. Think about resilience mapping, active listening and better self-care!
Will reflect, work on active listening, share content with team and family.
Use "grounding" technique. Iceberg behaviour.
Yes, it was interesting to learn about "emotion coaching".
Yes, I will read more about how I can help children to promote mental health.
Try to adopt more "active listening" approach when working with my pupils.
Will work on my emotional literacy!

What was best about the course/event?

Group work. Excellent presenter!
Attachment theory. Self-care. Flipping your lid. Well paced, very clear.
Practical practice/discussion of emotional coaching.
Humour, short, informative video clips, chance to discuss with other attendees.
Lots of excellent visuals such as iceberg behaviour, brain model and resilience map. Also, great clips to help summarise key concepts. Really enjoyed the emotional coaching task.
Opportunities to network.
Video clips, discussions, activities which could be used with children and young people in schools. Very relevant content. I am taking away knowledge and advice which will impact on my home and work life.
Presentation was great and informative.
Raised awareness of mental health and how it presents. Also tools to help.
Clips/videos, Resilience map. Strategies and tips to use, "Miracle Question" etc. Excellent, informative day which built on previous experience and was very thought-provoking.
Mix of slides, videos and activities - not just all listening.
More in-depth knowledge gained about child mental health, triggers, actions.
Very well and clearly presented. Good pace and nice mix of activities and films.
Very informative and thought-provoking content and links great. Pacing rated 4 out 5 because a lot of content needed thinking time.
Emotion coaching so far!
This has sparked an interest for me to learn more.
Excellent presenter - very knowledgeable.
Raising awareness and having the opportunity to reflect on my approach.

What, if anything, could have been improved about the course?

Too many PowerPoint slides.
Pace. Less PowerPoint, more activities/discussion.
More "real life" situations shown/discussed to give us more strategies for "emotional coaching", especially with regards to challenging behaviour.
Size of room. Table space (8).
Maybe a few more activities to break up the long periods of listening.
Perhaps additional input related to mental health in children and young people with sensory impairment e.g. Positive Eye resource...
One comment in presentation re. learning assistants and how they are influenced by community they live in suggested learning assistants are not professional which I strongly personally disagree with - could be taken out when audience includes learning assistants.
More about how to support someone struggling with their mental health, especially when they discuss with you.
More specific to HI/VI children.
Perhaps there would be better discussion with a bigger/less cramped lay-out.
More time at times e.g. talking about emotion coaching. Room set-up a bit strange.
I would have liked to have had some input with regards to working with children/young people who have anxiety/depression.
