I'll introduce on-body signing to my preschool children when/if appropriate.
I think the webinar itself, the fact it's on offer, is a good thing. But unfortunately I find that 'on body' and makaton is confusing and conflicting. As a parent of a blind child with development delays, the system of language and communication needs simplifying.
Read and research more on on-body signing and consider which students it might be appropriate for.
I will start to use some on-body signing with the students.
I will look to work collaboratively with my school and nurseries to promote on-body signing.
I will be more confident about introducing and using these signs with pupils.
More aware of approaches and regular signs used with children developing language.
I will be looking at applying some signs to my sons daily life.
More consistent use of on-body signing.
Support the child with severe VI more effectively, and work more collaboratively with the speech and language therapist.
Feel more confident to discuss and promote use of on-body signing to the settings I work with.
I will consider further training options for On-body signing and Makaton to enhance my expertise.
Start to use signs in my day to day practice.
No.
Learning some signs.
The fact it's on offer. But does need to be more advertised and available to parents. BSL, makaton, braille and on body courses are not widely accessible or available to parents.
Everything as I had absolutely no prior knowledge.
The content, polls and practical activities.
I thought the inclusion of the variety of common signs was helpful.
Being able to interact via the polls and chat function.
Learning some on body signs.
Signs.
Great instruction on how to introduce and use on-body signing.
Checking recall using Teams polling.
Access to published material and practical demonstrations.
Background info on the subject. Practical examples and video clips.
The use of polls for learning is a good idea.
The interactive parts and having a go at the signing.
Very informative.
Nothing. (6)
I think the webinar itself is maybe too much information to fit into one hour.
Copy of slides to be sent to attendees to refer back to.
Short info sheet to share at the end.
Thought that this course was practical in nature and would have been better delivered in person, although I do understand the challenges this brings in regards to travel and time off work.
Including some approaches for adults with sight and hearing loss.
It would have been good for there to be a person with the presenter to do the sign on as examples. Also more updated videos.
Access to a recording of the presentation would have been great. Although the material are all available online, it would be useful to refer back to. [Recording supplied.]
I think it would be more beneficial if first 15 mins rather than half hour be spent on introductory and rationale. The signing and quiz should take the majority of the session 45/60 min.
The course contained only a few signs. It would have been valuable to have had more. The basic nature of the course perhaps suited others though.

In order for this to be taken on board and used effectively, this maybe need to be a short course. Perhaps an hour a week for 4-6 weeks.
Anything related to communication strategies for SEN.
Working with VI babies.
How would you rate the webinar technology? 4.3/5
