Likely to use the Look UK mentoring scheme.
I hadn't realised that LOOK now covered Scotland as when I enquired 7 years ago I was told it didn't so I will now refer children into the scheme and tell parents about the support available to them.
Found this very informative as I was unaware of this charity and what they do.
I am hopeful that we may be able to have some people benefit from the mentor scheme.
I will contact them and find out if there is anything local for families - as usually there is quite a distance involved.
Consider mentoring support for young individuals and consider family support.
Not sure at present.
Condense it down a bit as there was a lot in this presentation although all valid.
Contacted Look UK to refer my son for mentoring.
Notify parents of view.
Have sent information to VI teacher colleague with particular pupil in mind who I think may benefit from the support of a fellow mentor with personal experience of living with a VI.
It was great to find out more about the LOOK mentoring scheme. I now know I can refer pupils to this scheme if required.
Direct families and older pupils to Look for mentorship.
Will refer parents and young people to Look.
I will recommend the peer mentoring service to a school I visit. I will also bear in mind the flat in Scarborough for 1 of my families. I have passed on information about mentoring with careers and FE/HE to my colleague who works with post 16 pupils.
Definitely recommend this mentoring/parental support where required.
Do not think so
Really good presentation, gave all the information required.
It was clear and precise.
Learning about this excellent resource
It was informative and interesting. I didn't know anything about the charity and what they did before this.
I didn't manage to stay online for the whole presentation, however it was interesting to hear from the perspective of her own visual impairment.
Practical advice, case studies, audio and video clips, engaging presenter.
Finding out what LOOK do.
There was lots of useful information which had practical applications.
Learning about the mentoring process.
Interesting to see how a VI adult coped with virtual presenting. Useful to find out more about Look.
The enthusiastic Ally - who discussed her role as a mentor.
The fact that Charlotte had set this mentoring scheme up to help pupils/young people with a VI. She is a great role model for our young people. It was also really good to hear Charlotte talk about her visual impairment so openly and about some of the difficulties that she had encountered throughout her school days.
Hearing first hand experience of what helps VI pupils to grow in confidence.
Loads of info.
A wealth of information provided by a person with VI, somebody who knows what they are talking about.
Easy to listen to presenter who was really passionate about the fabulous service they provide. Lots of good information.
Knowledge of the Mentor scheme and how it works.
Have the powerpoint slides available afterwards as I had to scribble really fast to make notes
It would be helpful to have video and sound content captioned.
Can't think of anything
There was a lot to pack into the time, perhaps for the benefit of the presenter to cut it down a bit as they had put a lot of work in to it and they had to leave bit out at the end.
It was rushed at the end - would have been good to have stayed on for her to answer questions
Could possibly have been a bit shorter in length.
I thought it was really well presented and Charlotte brought it across in a really interesting and easy to listen to manner.
A lot of info in a short amount of time.
Nothing (3), it was fab.
