The webinar gave an overview of the current issues in VI education. It aimed to raise awareness of the challenges learners, families and educators tend to experience and to signpost good practice. It also provided information and ideas about how to manage and support those working with children with VI to develop a clear, informed rationale for all aspects of their work and encourage a culture of critical enquiry and continuous improvement. There was an opportunity to ask questions during the session.

Target Audience

Leaders of Visual Impairment and/or ASN services, ASN and Inclusion Officers/Managers who have little or no direct experience of teaching children and young people with visual impairment.

Presenter

Alison Price, formerly Head of Vision Support Service, Aberdeen City.

Alison has over 20 years of experience as a VI teacher and 14 years as head of service. She has worked in several multi-disciplinary teams and presented at various national conferences including ones hosted by the RNIB and VINCYP as well as SAVIE.
