What was best about the event?

It was all very interesting.
Very informative presentations. Lovely to have the opportunity to explore the braille technology and speak to the experts.
Opportunity to meet others and network. Learning about new products
Seeing new braille technology.
Where do I start? Fantastic community, so much info, lots of clear ideas to follow up.
Meeting so many like-minded people and gaining so much extra knowledge from wealth of experiences.
Hearing from speakers who live the life of a blind/visually impaired person, real experience speaks volumes.
In person event. Steve Tyler was inspirational!
Loved the keynote speaker, very knowledgeable! Loved the Paige Connect too!
The Keynote speaker was an inspiration.
Actually seeing the multi-line display in person, talking to people in person, connecting with people who know people who can answer questions.
Good to see new technology.
Learning about the full range of new products & spending day to focus on VI tech as don't often get the chance to do that.
I found out some information on tactile graphics to assist with a new project I have.
Honesty in the challenges of braille users but need for more braille and braille tech clearly highlighted.
The Keynote presentation - learned so much! And really valued hearing perspectives from braille users.
Enjoyed seeing the tech in action at lunchtime having heard about it.
So many people interested in braille.
Hearing from different people and their experiences, being able to ask questions and see tech.
Getting to speak to other people within VI.
Finding out all the new technology that is out there for people that need to use braille. Braille Paige - fantastic.
Relaxed day with plenty of time to network and try out products/speak to the experts. Lunch was lovely as was the tea/coffee supplies.
Very knowledgeable speakers! Great range of speakers showcasing their own experiences/products!

Learning about developing technology for pupils with VI and braille.
In person and all content.
Presenters.
Range of speakers, format of event.
Keynote speech.
Lovely to have an in person event - thanks! Practical demos - great. Fireside chat - very informative.

What, if anything, could have been included in the event?

It was all well covered.
Activities where delegates could talk and work on solutions together.
More obvious where tech surgery was. More audience participation.
Today was perfect.
There was a good balance of listening and hands-on, so no suggestions!
It was perfect - talks, demos, time for questions and time to chat with colleagues.
More maths - it's like the language of the universe.
More voice of those using braille.
It would have been helpful if there were fewer people at the exhibition - perhaps the group could have been split in two. Wanted to get a better chance to play with the equipment. Lots of listening in the first half. Was hard to understand exactly how some of it works.
Deafblind tactile users.
Some more personal experiences of how braille has changed lives more in-depth, there was some.
Would have appreciated having lunch be separate from the demo of tech session because didn't have time and there were so many people (should have been split into groups perhaps) to actually see more demos and have time to interact with the devices in a hands-on way.
More time for demonstrations/examples of tech in use.
More speaking to other people.
Possibly to have a current braille user pupil to share their views.
More variety of technologies/demonstrations.
More time for using equipment.
There was a great amount of knowledge in the time provided.
Possible another day event?
Everything was great.

What other CPD training would you like the SSC to provide?

Training learners on AT - Best practice. Needs assessment for VI learners, including AT.
A full day course for HE practitioners to learn more about Braille basics.
While I feel that I have had a lot of training in CVI and complex needs, I am still unsure what activities I can do with pupils other than sensory stories. I would like ideas for what I can do with pupils to help with progress.
Braille maths!
Wellbeing support for young people with VI. Supporting Mental Health within VI.
Magnification hardware training.
Social Haptics for Deafblind.
Deafblind manual and tactile training.
Would appreciate training that is focused on showing user experience of various devices, formats and languages such as braille.
Ideas for working/planning for complex needs pupils.
Keep going with keeping people updated with tech. Formal qualification for support assistants. Mental Health of CYP with a VI.
Training /presentations for pupils learning braille and their QTVI - opportunity for networking, meeting other braillists.
Pupils and QTVI day to explore technology and chat about braille.
Practical braille reading skills, eg how both hands coordinate whenever change lines or special skills
More on Braille - practical teaching ideas for various ages.
The same thing (or similar) again.
More on braille technology! (2)
Practical activities re teaching braille.
More in person as opposed to online.
