Will you do anything differently as a result of today's training?

In working with an under 3's child that is VI it has allowed me to look at the playroom from the way the child would see it, also what could be restrictions to him while moving around and also looking at the resources and play materials that have been put out are these highly effective for the child.
Consider impact of COVID related restrictions on access to other family members and children for child with VI. Attempt to arrange more joint visits to family/nursery when aware that other services are involved. Stress importance of including descriptive adjectives when teaching about familiar and new objects. Use both hands together. Importance of tummy time. Family members should explain how they are feeling to child. REMIND COLLEAGUES ABOUT LONE WORKING POLICY!

What was best about the course/event?

The whole webinar in relation to a VI child within my centre and what will be the child's limits in experiences and also how to support and encourage the child to push a bit further. Exploration of other senses could cause sensory overloads.
Opportunity to ask questions and receive responses to these. Experienced presenters.
Hearing from experienced QTVIs about how they support babies.
Content was excellent timely and reassuring. Just about to start my home visits again soon. Great to connect easily from home with other QTVIs and have people share good ideas. Length and start time of the course was perfect, at the end of a busy school day!

What, if anything, could have been improved about the course?

A bit more time to deliver the course/webinar.
I enjoy and learn from watching videos of topic being discussed but appreciate difficulty in including these in this particular subject.

What other CPD training would you like the SSC to provide?

Further training on supporting young children with VI, resources and play materials best for VI and provocations to support and encourage VI children's curiosity and inquiry.
Supporting child with (profound) complex needs and VI. Target setting for such a child.
More of these short VI courses would be great.
