Will you do anything differently as a result of today's training?

Continue checking updates.
Look at reference materials.
Good to have the reference points to download ie the ICEB website as a lot to try to remember!
Be more confident.
Use updates to check my braille - I am still working through the UEB course!
Just away to start my contracted braille course so this has been very useful.
Look at the UEB rules and resources more.
Go back over 'ea' rules.
I was happy with the way it was done.
Share with colleagues.
This was a good confidence boost to me as the rules of braille can be overwhelming at times. It was all well presented and easy to follow and targeted well at QTVIs who are using contracted Braille regularly.
Greater understanding and reenforcement of UEB braille code.

What was best about the course/event?

The whole session was great.
Examples.
Kyle going through the worked examples.
Concise info, great delivery. Sorry I was bit late, leaving school to get on!
Great choices of examples to illustrate tricky concepts.
Inclusion of quiz Qs to keep us on our toes!
The detail from the presenter.
Short and informative.
Upbeat style and interactive parts.
Getting a better insight to some of the signs.
The use of language. Some Braille courses I have attended have been "dry". Using "Floated in the sea of letters written individually" much more fun and memorable!
Lots of examples and opportunities to reflect on your skills in reading and writing braille.
Kyle made the content very engaging - excellent presenter - presenting a webinar on rules of UEB braille interesting is a particular skill!

What, if anything, could have been improved about the course?

Another half an hour.
Coverage of a few more rules/contractions
Some more examples of shortforms or 'trickier' words
Pace was quite quick. In saying this, this may be because I am not teaching any pupil Braille on my current caseload. Would have loved to have done something like this in person to offer more interaction, but appreciate this may not suit everyone.
Nothing (5) - really relevant and useful. Thanks Kyle.
I thought it was good.
I was happy with the way it was.
It was excellent.

What other CPD training would you like the SSC to provide?

Similar.
Anything on VI education is interesting.
Albinism is something I would like some updated knowledge on.
Braille/large print/ tactile diagrams and graphs for maths/science from primary to secondary.
Training on braille GCSE exams, particularly the practical assessments in Science and Food and Nutrition.
