This was an interactive session exploring how to effectively support students who are deaf or hard of hearing through technology and strategic approaches.

What was covered:

Essential assistive listening technologies and their practical applications.
How to identify and overcome barriers to technology implementation.
Creative strategies for maximising technology effectiveness.
Opportunities and considerations around using AI tools for academic support, captioning, summarising, and language modification.

Session Format

A blend of hands-on practical activities and theoretical discussions, providing both knowledge and actionable skills.

Target Audience

Needs assessors, Student support staff, Disability advisors, Inclusiveness practitioners, Assistive technologists, and anyone working with deaf or hard of hearing students who wants to enhance their understanding of assistive technology solutions.
