Will you do anything differently as a result of today's training?

Yes. I will introduce 'formal' movement opportunities and set up activities in the corridor or outside. I will possibly use computer levels idea with target-setting and planning.
Think differently about the issues children present and to what extent DCD might play a part in them. Introduce more movement in sessions for all children I visit as a peripatetic teacher.
Be more aware of what the child might be experiencing. Cascade to staff.
Observe children more closely. Share information with colleagues.
Oh yes! I need to reconsider the approach/support for pupils. I also need to make sure I share what I have learned with support staff.
Read through materials to share with key staff, once emailed out.
Work on movement breaks.
This is likely to affect planning.
Yes. Consider what additional sensory integration my young people may have in addition to their severe and complex needs.

What was best about the course/event?

The presenter knows her stuff and was bright and enthusiastic throughout.
Neuroscience references and information about the 8 senses - so interesting! Anecdotal information linked for successful strategies. Practical activities. Deepened understanding of why it is important to move. Excellent course, thank you! Lots of food for thought.

Loads of information as to why and ways to support. Amazing knowledge and experience and enthusiasm.
I had no idea about DCD and now I do. Really benefited from the activities as they significantly helped me understand what a child with DCD might experience.

Hands-on experiences to exemplify how things feel for learners.
Validation of my knowledge and understanding of sensory integration difficulties. Very clear and informative.

What, if anything, could have been improved about the course?

Time to learn more about sensory modulation - another course?!!
Case studies. Not sure (other than enjoying hearing good news!) that they developed my understanding.
