This introductory course gave participants on overview of on-body signing – what it is, as well as when and how to use it. On-body signing is a method of signing that has a reference on the body. It is particularly appropriate for children who are visually impaired and have complex additional support needs. It is also appropriate for many children who have Cerebral Visual Impairment with additional needs. This course incorporated theory and practical elements.
Participants were introduced to a core vocabulary of signs that they will be able to use in their own setting.
Teaching and non-teaching staff in special schools, staff in Nursery where there are children with (C)VI and complex additional needs, Teachers of Visual Impairment, Habilitation staff, third sector.
