Will you do anything differently as a result of this webinar?

Change my techniques of guiding and showing how to do movements and skills within sport.
I have learnt more techniques and ways of adapting and including the VI child within my class.
Have a better understanding about candidates with vision impairment and this will impact on all of my work going forwards.
Yes, will use all strategies suggested.
Use different types of equipment: tactile; manipulation; verbal.
I will be more hands on with the PE teachers at school. I will use the resources provided.
There were certainly a few useful tips to build into practice.
Embed ideas in PE.

What was best about the event?

Blindfolds used through all activities really gave a feel of what it can be like for a visually impaired pupil. Hearing everyone's different experiences and ideas to improve sport for pupils.
Practical group work and the ability to talk between ourselves on how we do things in our own settings, share best practice with others.
The practical nature of it.
Networking and learning useful strategies to support young people.
Working in teams, range of activities.
Trying out various different ways to do exercises, talking to other professionals.
Presenters clearly had a great level of expertise and it was ideal being in a PE setting with equipment to hand instead of a random office or room at SSC or an admin building.
Learning different approaches to providing opportunities in PE for pupils with a VI.

What, if anything, could have been improved about the event?

A chance at the end of the session to sit down express thoughts and in depth questions with the group about the session.
Having a chance to write notes about other group's thoughts/feedback on dealing with different sports would have been useful, although not overly practical in a gym hall setting (which was needed for the practical side of things).
Perhaps a little longer?
I would have liked a copy of the booklet issued at end, as I didn’t get one.
Session to be 1.5 hours when after school. Longer sessions could be run in an afternoon 12-3 or morning 9-3.
It was very fast paced. It would have been better as a 3 hour presentation.
There were highly skilled practitioners in PE present and their expertise was limited as we kept going into groups to plan things as 'amateurs'. I appreciate practical sessions are good but I'd rather be taught directly, shown the equipment in action (we had a 3 minute run through of equipment at the end?), see tailored PE lessons in practice. Next session like this, perhaps participants can send PE barriers to the team first and they can then address these directly? Group experiences can also be really difficult as you can get some who are overbearing or not especially insightful and this just wastes valuable learning time. The above complications also led to the pacing being insufficient for certain things (e.g. I don't really want to spend 20 minutes watching non TVIs or PE specialists demonstrating run, skip, throw etc. I want the PE/VI specialists to walk us through all of these stages and how it should be taught). However, I am aware this was the first time this was delivered and I hope the above is constructive and useful. It is certainly a good thing that this sort of workshop is delivered and using Uddingston Grammar, SDS and partners is a great idea.

Specific sport/activity differentiations.
In service to mainstream.
