Content

Bag Books are multi-sensory books aimed at those who cannot benefit from mainstream books. They can be enjoyed without being understood as they are told interactively through voice and emotion rather than words and pictures. They are designed for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (a maximum developmental age of 18 months), people with severe learning disabilities (a maximum developmental age of 6 years) or people with severe autistic spectrum disorders. They are also hugely beneficial to those with visual and hearing impairments.

During this one-day course we looked at how Bag Books were developed and how they can be used correctly and effectively. We looked at examples of stories and storytelling sessions and discussed issues surrounding sensory storytelling.
